FireSmart Assessments Powered by AIsix

Carmanah’s assessment process blends boots-on-the-ground fieldwork with advanced AI-driven wildfire modeling through our partnership with AIsix. This hybrid approach ensures every project starts with a clear, data-backed picture of wildfire risk — from both a local and landscape-level perspective.

Using satellite imagery, topographic analysis, and AI-generated ignition probability maps, we evaluate likelihood, intensity, and exposure before setting foot on site. Our trained assessors then verify these insights in the field, identifying site-specific risks and fire behavior factors.

1) Plan
Mitigation Prescription Development

We translate assessment data into an actionable mitigation prescription tailored to the property’s specific needs. Our team collaborates with Registered Professional Foresters (RPFs) where required to ensure all recommendations meet ecological and regulatory standards.

2) Execute
On-the-Ground Mitigation Operations

Our certified wildfire crews and fallers carry out hands-on risk reduction work, including fuels reduction, structure clearing, and hazard tree removal. We deploy Danger Tree Assessors (DTA/DTF), SPU-trained staff, and qualified saw operators to ensure efficient and compliant execution.

Work Scope:

  • Brushing, pruning, limbing, and ladder fuel removal
  • Tree felling and bucking
  • Ground fuel cleanup and safe debris disposal
  • Structure perimeter clearing (Zone 1/2/3 treatments)
  • Remote operations scaling with mobile crews
3) Evaluate
Proof of Impact & Continuous Improvement

Once the work is complete, we return to the data. Our team re-evaluates each site using updated field inspections, geotagged documentation, and AIsix’s post-treatment fire modeling to quantify impact and demonstrate defensibility improvements.
